Safety Information

The Happy Start, LLC ("The Happy Start", "THS", "we", "our") offers products and recommends activities designed for infants and young children that are meant to complement, rather than replace, the guidance provided by your child's or infant's physician and/or medical health advisor. Ensuring the safety and well-being of a newborn is always a top priority for new parents. Taking care of a baby involves a significant responsibility, and it's normal for parents to initially feel uncertain about how to provide a safe and comfortable environment for their little one.

The Happy Start's products are not toys and are intended for use by adults and caregivers only. We take extensive measures in designing our products to ensure they are safe, and meet or exceed all Consumer Product Safety Commission children's product safety standards through third-party laboratory testing located in the United States. However, please do not leave our products or their packaging unattended with an unsupervised child. If a product and/or its packaging becomes damaged in any way, please dispose of it immediately.

WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD. SMALL PARTS. NOT FOR CHILDREN UNDER THREE.

The Happy Start, LLC ("The Happy Start", "THS", "we", "our") currently offers a product, the high contrast vision cards, that includes a plastic ring, so the user can bind the vision cards together. This design makes it easier on parents, caregivers, and users of this product to keep all of the cards together (e.g., easy to throw in a diaper bag, stroller bag, a small handbag, and/or purse). Children can choke or suffocate on the plastic ring binding our vision card product. Keep this specific product attached and fastened with the accompanying plastic ring at all times. If unfastened, the user assumes all risk; please keep the plastic ring binding our vision card product away from a child's reach (e.g., in your pocket, on top of a tall counter or cabinet, etc.).

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) defines a 'small part' as any object that fits completely into a specifically designed test cylinder 2.25 inches long by 1.25 inches wide that approximates the size of the fully expanded throat of a child under three years old. If a small part fits completely into the cylinder, and the toy or product from which it came from is intended for use by children under three, the toy or product is banned because the small part presents a choking hazard.

This specific product we offer, the high contrast vision cards, is not designed for children under three years old although children under three years old are likely the recipient or viewer of the product while a parent, guardian, or caregiver shows them the product. However, while we were designing this product, another concern THS had was making sure that any child who may get their hands on the product remain safe at all times.

So, we designed this product with a large binding ring, which exceeds the CPSC requirements for what they define as a 'small part.' We also designed this product recommending that the binding ring be attached and fastened at all times. Again, children (e.g., over the age of three years old) can still choke or suffocate on the plastic ring binding our vision card product. Please keep this specific product attached and fastened within the accompanying plastic ring at all times.

Lastly, this specific product was tested and approved through a third-party, CPSC-approved laboratory located in the United States, where it met or exceeded all Consumer Product Safety Commission children's product safety standards, including 'small parts.'

*Some of our content and marketing material used on this website, our social media platforms, etc. may show a small-sized plastic binding ring binding our vision card product. We photographed and filmed certain content and marketing material during the design and testing process. Our bounded vision card product does NOT have or use this small-sized plastic ring; the CPSC-approved testing facility tested and approved the larger-sized, non 'small-part' plastic binding ring. Please contact us at hello@thehappystart.com if you have any questions.

Round Corner Design

The Happy Start, LLC ("The Happy Start", "THS", "we", "our") designed both of our products with rounded corners or edges. Sharp corners can be dangerous when young children are around, for a fall or accident could leave a cut, scar, or even cause serious damage. This includes adults too, including parents and caregivers.

Although it is not a requirement by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, this design is a subtle but simple way to help keep you and your child safe, reducing the likelihood of any injury due to a sharp corner or edge.

Please keep in mind that the use of any of our products is at your own risk. By using THS' products, users acknowledge any and all risks.
